The Sony Ericsson C905 features a nice industrial design with great build quality. It has a very ergonomic feel, the designers at Sony Ericsson have definitely tried to do their best. At dimensions of 104 x 49 x 19.5 mm and with a weight of 136g, it isn’t very thin or light but that is excusable considering all the features and the heavyweight 8 MP camera Sony Ericsson has managed to fit in. It does seem a little fat compared the Samsung M8800 Pixon. Except or the extra flab, there is nothing to complain about in the design of the C905. TomTom GO LIVE Carrying Case and Strap for GO 740 Review
I have owned quite a few GPS receivers and I usually buy soft cases for them, cases with a little bit of padding to protect the delicate electronics inside of the device. However, there are two disadvantages with soft cases: they are thicker and bulkier than hard cases and they offer only limited protection for your screen. I boarded an unusually small plane once and had to check the briefcase that I always carry on. When it was returned I later found that the screen on my brand new Garmin nuvi was cracked. After considering the Garmin Nuvi and Magellan Maestro, I decided that I didn’t need the extra features like Bluetooth, mp3 player, FM transmitters, etc. I have taken the Pharos 250 with me on several trips now, and it does a fine job of getting me to my destination. FYI, the Pharos 250 is exactly like the Pharos 150, except that it has a bigger screen
The nuvi 5000’s display is great. Big is good, and it does not obstruct the windshield view much at all, as most of the mount is hidden behind the GPS.
I didn’t realize until after I received it that Garmin intends the 5000 for use in RVs. The big display would be especially nice in a roomy RV cockpit. However, the lack of internal battery–OK in an RV with plenty of non-switched 12V outlets–is annoying in my car, which has only switched outlets. After each pit stop, I must wait for the GPS to get back online. Fortunately, that is pretty quick after a short power-down, and navigation picks up where it was before the stop. This may come as a surprise… you do not have to be a technical person to use a GPS.
Although the concept and technology of Global Positioning Satellite systems was originally created by the Department of Defense for military uses, it has lately been made useable to the general public and today you will be able to get an automatic GPS system easily and promptly to keep you on track while driving. An automatic GPS system is becoming more and more popular amongst people and the latest vehicles actually include it among the vehicle accessories.
